Intent
Children are encouraged to develop a deeper awareness and natural curiosity of their ever-changing world and human impact upon it to encourage respect for living organisms and the physical environment. Children’s scientific learning is concerned with acquiring knowledge, undertaking practical scientific activities, longitudinal studies, and awareness of current scientific news. We aim to develop scientific knowledge, skills and processes of enquiry through the Primary HIAS Key Ideas* and Programmes of Study.

Implementation
Science is given high prominence as a core-subject, with dedicated teaching time every Monday afternoon. In the infants, as well as the main topic, each half-term the children focus on the seasonal changes using the full extent of the school grounds and our wildlife area Lockburn. In the Juniors, the children are taught in their year groups in small classes of about twenty.
