Intent
At St. Faith's we place high importance on the life-long value of Physical Education in supporting the school's mission of instilling confident, motivated, resilient and ambitious learners. PE also supports our mission in growing respectful and thoughtful children who are both good winners and good losers. We believe that engagement in sport should be an integral part of children's lives as a key support in both physical and mental wellbeing, key to a balanced healthy lifestyle.
Implementation
St. Faith's employs a PESS 5 trained specialist sports coach to support our PE delivery, who also provides a high level of expertise and input to our staff team. Our curriculum planning is supported by PE Planning, which provides a high-quality sequential structure, ensuring that the children progress in their skills and experience year on year. In addition, we run Inter-house competitions every term which fosters a healthy competitive spirit amongst the children, and take part in local competition organised by the King's Cluster group of schools so that our children experience mixing with others in the wider community. We also run competitive sports days every year which give the children the opportunity to experience the in-the-moment pressure of performing before a crowd.
Impact
St. Faith's has a history of often punching above its weight in local competition, especially for a small school, and is part of a wider St. Faith's local community that place high importance on the merits of physical activity. All children - irrespective of their prior outside-school experience - engage well with PE in all its, and expect to give 100% effort to their team when competing.
