Vision statement for Geography
Geography at St Faith’s aims to develop pupils’ curiosity of the physical and human world around them. Pupils will develop an awareness of the world around them, how they fit in as Global Citizens and their own human impact on our ever-changing world. Through high-quality direct teaching and an enquiry-based approach, pupils will learn about their own locality and compare it with other diverse people and places on Earth. They will learn how to draw and interpret maps and deepen their geographical skills of recognising, describing, explaining, comparing and evaluating. Pupils will be able to express their geography through the use of content-specific geographical language and show confidence and resilience when finding answers to their questions from different sources of evidence, including Geographical Technology. Through this learning, pupils will leave St Faith’s as informed and active future Global Citizens with an awareness of how their lives are connected to others and how their actions make an impact on the environments they inhabit so that they can make responsible choices for the future.
