Dear Parents,
This Thursday we will be sharing with the children some of the material from EmpathyLab to mark Empathy Day. The theme of Empathy Day 2021 is “Walk in someone else's shoes...”. Being empathetic is a key component of being able to love each other well, something we spend a lot of time on during collective worship as part of our Christian ethos, and in our wider PSHE learning.
This is a helpful definition from EmpathyLab
There is a full day of content – more than we could possibly hope to engage with on one day - so we will dip into the material over the coming weeks, in order to foster a greater understanding in the children over time.
For Friday this week, your children are welcome to come to school wearing non-school uniform shoes. We only ask that they are:
- Clean – if they are riding boots and you’ve mucked out at the stables, please give them a hose down!
- Safe – we do not want any twisted ankles because they children can’t actually walk in them.
If they are suitable for indoors only – I might wear my slippers, for example – then please send your children with an additional outdoor alternative. We are not asking for a donation.
Yours faithfully,
Headteacher
